The Royal Way: Living Like the King's Child

Scripture: Ephesians 1:1-14; Luke 15:11-32; Galatians 2:20; 2 Corinthians 5:17 Speaker: Jeremy Smith

The Big Idea Before the foundation of the world, God chose us in Christ, adopted us as His sons and daughters, redeemed us by the blood of Jesus, and sealed us with the Holy Spirit. Because we act out of who we believe we are, we have to stop identifying with our old, dead self and start living, praying, and serving as children of the King.

Key Takeaways

  • God chose and named you before creation "in all wisdom and insight." Your adoption was not His mistake.

  • You were crucified with Christ. Identifying with the old you, even with humble-sounding language, keeps you from walking in who God says you are.

  • The Holy Spirit is God's seal and guarantee of your inheritance, so you can stop living like an orphan worried about where the next provision comes from.

  • Like the prodigal's father, God is not looking for servants. He runs to His children with the best robe.

  • Our witness is not about winning arguments but about walking with the Holy Spirit in power, desperate for His presence.

Quote to Remember "You act out of who you think you are."

Something to Sit With When you pray this week, notice how you approach God. Do you come like a hired servant hoping for a little help, or like a son or daughter coming to Abba, Father? Ask Him to show you one old identity you are still carrying that He already nailed to the cross.
